"Caleta Los Laureles 206" is the title of the picture created in 2005 by Corinne Wasmuht (born 1964, lives and works in Berlin) and at the same time it is the address of the house in Buenos Aires where she lived for a long time. The months-long painting process with oil paint on wood with which Corinne Wasmuht translates superimposed visibility into a permanent image shows that everything is important, everything should be looked at closely. It pushes many rooms into each other in a variety of perspectives and the viewer is exposed to an incredible number of images at the same time. The viewer needs time to view them. The flat, non-hierarchical detail with its sudden simultaneity also has something limitless and the bright, luminous colors underline the pulsating element of this painting. The image is large and therefore speaks to the eyes and the body. Viewed from a close view, one enters the action as it were in order to physically move back and forth and not just direct one's moving eye at the work from a fixed position. The memory of the street where she lived can perhaps be glimpsed in the painting, but these associations actually come to nothing because the rooms ultimately nest together as structures.
