Michael Wesely almost always examines the nature of photography in his work. He works with long-term exposures with the shutter open, visualizing light and structuring time in the image. The title of the series "East Germany", from which we acquired three works, shows a different, unusual view of the landscape of the former GDR. Here he also uses the long exposure technique and gets graduated blue stripes that the lens perceives in this form. They are colored barcodes of landscapes whose horizontality is reminiscent of the abstraction of Dutch landscape painting of the 17th century. The color zones merge gently into one another and give the picture something meditative.
