Faint (2023-2024) is a video and sound installation. Each of the four video channels presents a changing choreographic interplay between the camera and performers - - - - - also the artist, with whom the work explores the tension between control and uncertainty. While the sequences are repeated and overlap, the filmed movements occupy their own performative presence as if the monitors themselves would become dancers in the room. The accompanying sound channel is a piano improvisation of Daijings. The overlapping rhythms of image and tone reflect the improvisational character of Daijing's performative practice, interlocking in structure and chance. Together, the visual and auditory elements create a space of constant movement in which the work can develop as a flowing, constantly changing experience.
