We get people excited about art and bring them close to it. Every year we organize up to 30 events exclusively for our members. By meeting artists and those responsible for curatorial work, we create a special form of exchange and take a look behind the scenes. We would like to thank our members for their patronage.
The idea of patronage, which may sound somewhat outdated - i.e. the private support of works of art or institutions without any expectation of commercial benefit - appears to us more than ever to be of great value.
That's why it's our heartfelt wish to inspire very different people for the FREUNDE mission and to pass on our passion to younger people: In addition to the FREUNDE membership, there are the young FRIENDS (18-40 years old) and the little FRIENDS (up to 18 years), but also the 2FREUNDE membership, which makes it possible to enjoy membership at a reduced price with a loved one of your choice. And of course our company FRIENDS, who give a wide range of employees access to the National Gallery.

FREE ADMISSION
The membership card entitles FRIENDS to free entry to the permanent collections and special exhibitions of the National Gallery and all other Berlin State Museums with an accompanying person.
NO WAITING TIMES
At special exhibitions made possible by the FRIENDS, the FRIENDS always have direct access - without waiting times and without pre-booking a time slot.
INVITATIONS TO ALL OPENINGS
You will be invited to all events and exhibition openings at the Nationalgalerie with someone accompanying you.
EXCLUSIVE Previews
At the special exhibitions we make possible, FRIENDS have an exclusive evening before the official opening.
EXCLUSIVE TOURS
Important exhibitions and art events as well as great museums draw the FRIENDS far into the world under expert guidance.
EXCLUSIVE SPECIAL VIEWS AND WORKSHOP DISCUSSIONS
The FRIENDS also organize attractive special tours of important art exhibitions in Berlin and exclusive discussions with well-known artists, collectors and the curators of the National Gallery.
Participation in the annual DINNER
On the occasion of the annual general meeting, the FRIENDS organize a festive dinner in the upper hall of the Neue Nationalgalerie, each year with a prominent dinner speaker.
RIGHT OF SUGGESTION FOR THE NATIONAL GALLERY PRIZE
Members have the right to suggest a candidate for the Nationalgalerie Prize sponsored by the FRIENDS.
DONATION RECEIPT FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP CONTRIBUTION
The FREUNDE membership fee is considered a donation and can therefore be fully deducted under special income tax expenses.
Friends
The classic membership, for all individuals aged 40 and over with an annual membership fee of at least 850 euros.
2friends
With the membership for two FRIENDS you can support the Nationalgalerie with a loved one of your choice and enjoy our program together: from January 1st, 2025 for an annual membership fee of at least 1,250 euros.
Young friends
For all individuals younger than 40 years with a reduced annual membership fee:
18 to 35 years at least 375 euros
35 to 40 years at least 650 euros.
Little friends
For the youngest art lovers, there is a membership that offers participation in an exclusive course program - from 5 years old, with an annual membership fee of at least 25 euros.
Friends of the reopening NNG
For FRIENDS who particularly love the Neue Nationalgalerie (NNG) and want to continue to support its “comeback” after almost seven years of renovation, there is an additional membership for individuals or companies with an annual membership fee of at least 3,000 or 10,000 euros.
Company friends
Membership for companies is available in the red, yellow and blue categories, with an annual membership fee starting at at least 4,000 euros.
