The wide range of exhibitions across time and media presented in the upper hall anchors the complex topics of the 20th century in current social reality and makes their significance directly tangible.
Since its opening in 1968, the Neue Nationalgalerie has established itself as a globally recognized venue that has presented international exhibitions and attracted millions of visitors. After reopening, it is now returning to the world stage with an attractive and contemporary exhibition and educational program. Even before the Corona pandemic, public budgets for special exhibitions, especially in the area of modern art, were very limited. The special commitment of the FRIENDS of the Wiedereröff_NNG contributed greatly to ensuring that the Neue Nationalgalerie was able to get off to a brilliant start in its “second phase of life”, even though the general conditions - from the ongoing pandemic in 2021 to the war in Ukraine to inflation in... Year 2023 – was extremely challenging.
In the coming years, financing large exhibition projects in the Neue Nationalgalerie, in addition to presenting the permanent collection from public funds, will remain a challenge, which is why FRIENDS of the Wiederöff_NNG have come together again in 2025. Become part of these NNG FRIENDS: Your sustained commitment in the first years after reopening will support the museum in once again positioning the Neue Nationalgalerie as the world's leading cultural institute for fine art. Your support strengthens Berlin as a creative city that provides numerous impulses nationally and internationally.
