This year, Pan Daijing, Dan Lie, Hanne Lippard and James Richards will receive the 12th Nationalgalerie Prize, which will be awarded to four artists for the first time in 2024. The new format takes up the idea of ​​the exhibition as a collective exchange and aims to expand the Nationalgalerie's collection through the purchase of the four new productions.

Prize winners produce new works that are shown in the joint exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof. Pan Daijing works with sound, performance, installation, choreography and film, Dan Lie's art deals with questions about ecology and non-human life forms, Hanne Lippard primarily uses her voice as an artistic medium and the filmmaker James Richards combines experimental techniques a sense of spatial arrangement.

The Nationalgalerie Prize is made possible by the Friends of the Nationalgalerie and supported by BMW. The acquisition of the works of art is supported by Riller & Schnauck, BMW partner in Berlin.
