Become a member of the Freunde der Nationalgalerie

The membership card entitles you and one guest to free admission to the permanent collections and to the special exhibitions of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin:

Alte Nationalgalerie, Altes Museum, Bode-Museum, Ethnologisches Museum*, Friedrichswerdersche Kirche*, Gemäldegalerie, Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, Kunstbibliothek, Kunstgewerbemuseum, Kupferstichkabinett, Museum Berggruen, Museum Europäischer Kulturen, Museum für Asiatische Kunst*, Museum für Fotografie, Neues Museum, Neue Nationalgalerie*, Pergamonmuseum, Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg, Schloss Köpenick, and special exhibitions at the Kulturforum.

You will not be subject to waiting times for special exhibitions made possible by the Freunde der Nationalgalerie.

You and one guest will be invited to all Nationalgalerie events and exhibition openings, and to the exclusive previews for the Freunde der Nationalgalerie.

The Freunde der Nationalgalerie additionally organises fascinating art trips, special viewings of important art exhibitions in Berlin, and exclusive talks with prominent artists and collectors.

The young friends of the Nationalgalerie (to age 35) meet in the Stoberkreis. They gather once or twice a month to visit museums, artists, galleries, workshops and other art spaces.

You will have the right to nominate a candidate for the Preis der Nationalgalerie, which is funded by the Freunde der Nationalgalerie.

Your membership is considered a donation and therefore qualifies as a fully deductible special expense for income tax purposes.

Please note that as a member of the Freunde der Nationalgalerie you are a patron of the arts furthering the purpose of our association, which is to provide ongoing support to the Nationalgalerie. In light of this, we must mention that for tax reasons we are required to charge for some events.

Sponsors may only come from among the membership of the Freunde der Nationalgalerie. You will find members listed in the Verein’s membership directory. We would be happy to send this to you by post. If you find no sponsor, please send us a short-form resume. On the basis of such a resume, the board will be happy to sponsor you.

Once we have received your application, it will be submitted to the board for approval.

You will then receive confirmation of your admission, your membership card, and an invoice for the membership contribution. Please pay this invoice to complete the process.

As soon as your contribution is received in our account, we will send your donation receipt by post.
