With his sculpture group “Water and Wine”, Gerd Rohling succeeds in depicting the “soul of glass” and making it visible in a fascinating form in a completely surprising way. Over two decades he has collected parts of old plastic bottles and containers from beaches and garbage dumps from various countries around the world, artfully recombined them and placed them in a completely different frame. The transformation from the ugliest and most worthless to the most noble and precious leads to a production of special magic. The metamorphosis of water into wine symbolizes the artist's will and ambition to “turn the world upside down”.
